ALTERNATIVE FUEL Following a proposal that the President's car should be fitted with a gas-producer plant, it was reported at last executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union that the Government had placed an embargo on the sale of plants by one important firm, while another reported that it was fully booked up -'for months ahead. It was also stated that there was great difficulty in obtaining fuel for gas producers. The following resolution was carried: "That we urge that steps should be taken at once to extend the plant for production of fuel for gas producer plants, in order to relieve the petrol shortage; and that i:he possibility of using waste forest products for this i>urpose should be investigated."
