E.P.S. Finance The total receipts for medical purposes of the ; County E.P.S. organisation amounted to £223 6s 6dExpenditure to date has been £82 12s sd, leaving a balance of £140 14s Id. Thirty-six stretchers at a cost of £40 10s are yet to be boughtFirst Aid Passes Mr A. Carling reported to Monday's County Ei.P.S. organisation that 253 persons attended first aid classes and 176 sat for the examination, practically all of whom passed. Classes were held at Edgecumbe, Matata, Waimana, Taneatua, O'hope and Te Teko. Services Cor-operate Major C. R. Wilson, Area Commander of the Wliakatane Home Guard, was present at Monday's meeting of the Wliakatane County Elmergency Precautions Scheme committee, and the closest co-operation is being exercised between the two services in an effort to be l completely prepared for any emergency. Few could realise the tremendous amount of detail and work involved in the County's scheme which is highly organised and has entailed a vast amount of work for executive officers. Hours and personal matters have not been considered in the speedy effort to have the organisation complete in the event of it being required.
Consumption of Flour In the Whakatane County the quantity of flour made into bread by bakers alone each month is 53 tons. Auction Sale Messrs A. J. A pair of stockings was won by Walter Jones (75). | N'o Surf Club Patrol The services) have taken such a toll of the members of the O'hope Surf Club that it will be impossible to maintain a patrol at the beach this year. In past years club members have arranged to give continuous duty in the interests of public safety. W.W.S.A. Engineers The following is a list of the successful candidates who sat for the examination set by the Institute of Automotive Engineers and conducted by the Taneatua W.W.S.A.,— Mrs El. H. Hill, Miss Ei. C. Armstrong, Miss Ml. McGougan, Miss A. M. Nankivell, Miss B. I. Peebles. Miss A. C. Prideaux, Miss F. E. Tebbutt, Miss E. L. Yeoman.
Scizzors Wanted —Urgent An urgent appeal has been launched through the local branch of the Red Gross Society for 4 and 5 inch scizzors. These are for the use of the Medical Units of the N.Z.ELF. overseas and may be left at the Red Cross shop or the Beacon office.
