PRAISE FOR CANTATA Sir, —Being a stranger to your town and desiring toi attend a church service I went recently to the local Presbyterian Church and was enchanted with the singing. I went prepared for just a passable hour or so in the morning, and I must say that the singing by the children's choir was really beautiful—• especially one young boy. The sermon took the form of a homely talk upon hymns and hymn-writers, with particular emphasis on the famous Wesley Brothers. In the evening I again attended and was again en-< raptured with the rendition of the hymns. I remember one that struck me very forcibly—Silent Night, Holy Night. In order to hear the Cantata which was advertised I again attended and consider that I was privileged to hear a genuine treat. Sir, that choir is something of which Whakatane should be proud. [ am quite sure if it were possible for it to travel, that it would have ft most successful tour, but of course in these times such an undertaking would not be possible. It seems a great pity, but I desire to compli-* ment the conductor and the singers ftlike on their achievement. Yours etc.. ANONYMOUS.
