COUNTY COUNCIL'S READINESS

OFFICERS REMAIN ON DUTY

At yesterday's meeting of the County Council the clerk reported that in view of the present emergency he had made arrangements with the officers of the clerical department who will be going on leave, to he available at the office in the event of an emergency, on the i,lay of notice. All such officers effected would, in any case, be returning to duty by the 7th Jan-

uary. As was known,, he ihe County Clerk, would be on duty during tli" period and with the Council's approval he would defer taking his annual leave, which the Council hart directed him to take in January. In regard to the organisation of the E.P.S. there were many matters icquiring attention and subject to the paramount requirements of this department, he suggested that Council meetings be held in Januarv at the ordinarl times if possible.

It had been decided last month to. defer the January meeting until February 10, and it was decided to adopt the recommendations made.
