CONCERN OF BOROUGH COUNCIL

At the monthly meeting of the j Whakatane Borough Council held on Monday night the foreman-engi-neer reported that there had been n slip at the hillside adjacent to the rising main at the pumping station and reservoir without serious consequences. He recommended that the attention of the Public Works Department be drawn to the probability of damage to the rising main by reason of their road construction ivork. It was decided that the District Public Works Engineer be notified of the potential danger to the rising main which would disrupt the borough water service, and that ir> the event of any future damage to the main which may o?cur by reason of their work, the council will hold the department responsible for "the cost of satisfactorily restoring the service.
