ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY

CIVIC FUNCTION"

Soldiers now on leave are to be farewelled' at the Winter Show Buildings at 12.15 p.m. on Saturday by people of Whakatane and district, His Worship the Mayor, the Chairman of the County Council, the president of the R.S.A. and representatives of the Maori race to be the speakers. The men of the reinforcement, find members of the 11.5.A., Home Guard, W.W.S.A., headed by the Pipe Band and Boys' Band Avill parade at the Rock at 11.45 and march off at noon. At the Winter Show Building following the addresses each soldier will be made the recipient of a presentation, and it is hoped that despite difficulties presented by petrol restrictions that there will, be a large attendance of the public of the town and the country.
