AUCKXANDERS AT SINGAPORE

CABLE FROM CAPTAIN

RUSHWORTH

Early in September Captain H. M. Rushworth, President of the Auckland Province of the Farmers' Union, and the secretary, Mr A. E. Robinson, left for the East on a mission to investigate trade possibilities with Mialaya and the Netherlands East Indies. Concurrently, a trade delegation from the Netherlands East Indies has arrived in Australia. A cable was sent by Captain Rushworth to the New Zealand Government suggesting that the delegation should be asked to extend its visit to New Zealand. A letter from the Minister of Finance was received at the last meeting of the Auckland Executive of the Farmers' Union stating that the Netherlands East Indi.es representatives have been invited to the Dominion.
