PLUNKET SOCIETY

SUCCESSFUL DANCE FIRST OF SERIES The first of a series of weekly dances organised by some of the members of the Plunket Society was held in the King Street Hall on. Tuesday night and proved very successful, about 50 couples being pre-t s-"nt. Excellent music was supplied by a voluntary band under Mr Ted Hay den, the other members being Mrs Larmer, Mr Wal.. Lysaght and Mr Ken Jarrett. Extras were played by Mr Go]in Wallace and Mr Phil Swift. Mr Swift also made a very efficient M.G., it being noticeable that the doorway wasn't as blocked as usual. Mr Roy Hill acted as doorkeeper. A Lucky Spot dance 1 was won by Miss Gwen Zinsli and partner, and a Monte Carlo by Miss Betty Ansell and partner. An enjoyable supper was supplied by members of the ccmmitteee and friends of the Society. Among those present were Misses Win Sutcliffe, Jean Lyon, Cecily and Pat Gottrell, Gwen and Thelma Zinsli, Zoe Dines, Lois and Thora Moore, E!ma Needham, Doris and Peggy Jeffares, Elsie Hewitt, Ruby and Margaret Howat, June Terry, Betty and Val Ansell, Betty Baxter, Dorothy MaMfergrave, June Gave, Pixie Appleby, Janet and Margaret Bullard, Lois Luxton, Jean Crozier, Beryl Cresswell, Eleanor Baskett, Wyn Thatcher, Pat Doherty, Joy Bridger, Harrigan, Eunice Hollister, Joyce Wetherall, Harris, dames Swift and Needham.". /
