RE WINTER SHOW BUILDING
Sir, —In your issue of the 21st inst. I notice a letter signed by Mr Harry Carr, who is desirous of knowing certain particulars connected with the past history of the Bay of Plenty Winter Show Association. It is quite alright, as a member of the general public which the institution, and I trust Carr does support the Show, entitled to know all about it, but what puzzles me is why he should write trt you Mr Editor for the particulars. I have recently vacated the office of secretary to the Association and neither I nor my successor was approached by Mr Carr or anybody else for that matter seeking information on the points in question. Mr Carr did not attend the annual general meeting of the Association held o(n the 12th of November (which was advertised in the paper) where he could have ascertained all the information now asked for through the columns of your paper. No! Mr Editor, I cannot see the motive for writing that letter. Especially as I happen to know that a member of the present Executive Committee gave Mr Carr a satisfactory explanation, which should have satisfied him, before the letter was handed in to the press. May I take tlfis opportunity of stating that— (1) 4750 Winter Show Schedules arc posted to all parts of the Dominion. (2) Entries are received from, as far south as Christchurch and as far north as Whangarei.
(3) The Winter Shcnv is one of the best advertisements that the Bay of Plenty possesses. (4) TTie organisation is fast outgrowing its present situation. (5) We can do with all the assistance we can get. (6) If Mr Carr applies to the proper quarter he will have no difficulty in ascertaining the information he desires. , Yours etc., H. G. WARREN, Organising Secretary for the 1941 Winter Show ami Member of the present Executive Committee.
