OVERLOADED
WHAKATANE POWER SUPPLY
PLANT EXTENSIONS NEEDED;
At this month's meeting of the Whaltatane Borough Council, Mr F. W. Lysaght, the electrical engineer, reported that the 500 K.V.A. transformer installed by the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board in connection with the Borough supply was working under overload conditions.
The position was not satisfactory and in the event of breakdown to this plant a very serious position will result. In view of this and the increasing load steps should be taken immediately towards increasing the capacity of this plant.
It was decided that the council request the Power Board to proceed urgently with the provision of additional transformer capacity, for borough supply purposes, at the Edgecumbe sub-station.
