LOSS ON HEATING

WATER CYLINDERS CONSUMPTION

USE TO BE RESTRICTED

It has been decided by the Borough Council that applications respecting power for hot water cylinders to, domestic consumers where no electric range is installed be de-

clined. His Worship the Mayor stated that hot water cylinders were supplied with power at a loss to the council and therefore should be the first means of conserving poAver. If a residence had an electric range and no other means of obtaining hot water then applications would be granted, but where other means of heating water were available: then such would have to be retained. Mr Barry continued that the use of time switches presented a problem in that the cost of the switches was considerable, and he said that the whole position was being investigated and it might be necessary to meter hot water cylinders.
