FUNERAL SERVICE

THE LATE MR J. W. SUMNER

BAY FULLY REPRESENTED

The funeral of the late Mr J. XV. Sumner took place at the Whakatane Cemetery yesterday afternoon when in the large assembly the Bay of Plenty was fully represented botli at the Church and the graveside, indicating the very high esteem in which the late gentleman was held. Local bodies represented included the Whakatane County Council, Harbour Board, Hospital Board, Borough Council, Bay of Plenty Power Board, Rangitaiki Ratepayers' Association. The Rangitaiki Dairy Company and the Home Guard were also represented. The services was conducted by the Rev. S. G. Caul ton, who briefly paid tribute to a life spent in the service of others. The pall bearers were Messrs W. A. McCracken, Alex McLean, A. Powdrcll and A. B. Barr.
