BURGLARY AT OPOTIKI
MAN CAUGHT RED-HANDED
ACCUSED COMMITTED F'OR
SENTENCE
Smart action by the Opotiki Police led to the arrest of a young man, Honour John Claire Aitken, aged 18 years, on Monday night, while he was in the act of stealing money from Mr T. J. Hickey's hairdressing shop in Church Street. A flickering light in the shop was noticed by Constable W. A. Rathie, who was standing talking to other men on the opposite side of the' street at about 11.45 p.m., and they decided to investigate.
As a result the accused Aitken was charged at the Opotiki Police Court on Tuesday afternoon, before Messrs C. Pipe and T. G. Johnson, J.P's., with breaking and entering by night the shop of Timothy John Hickcy in Church Street, and stealing the sum of £1 Is 6d in money, and pleading guilty was committed to the Supreme Court, Auckland, for sentence.
