"Wooden Leg on Fire"
"Look omt, your wooden leg is on fire!" This cry woke action in the cookhouse of the 11th (Wanganui) Company of the National Reserve on Saturday. Somebody thought it was raised as a joke, but it was a warn- - ing given with good reason. Private H. V. Bobbins, who has an artificial leg, a legacy from the last war, but Is keen to do his bit in the present conflict and is on the; cookhouse staff, found that his limb was indeed alight; at least the leg of his trousers was smouldering. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the cooks will probably find that it will take a long time to live down the con-> Struction the members of the com- • pany placed on the happening—that they Avere using Private Hobbins' leg to boil the afternoon tea water.
