Miss C. Sullivan, Cliristchurch, is the guest of Mrs Miarra, Waimana. Mr L. Armstrong is at present wiht his people, Mir and Mrs E. Armstrong, Victoria Avenue, having recently undertaken his degree examination in. dental surgery ,at the Auckland University. Messrs R. L. Innes and EL Taylor, of the Lands Department, Auckland, were visitors to Whakatane on Wednesday and were at the Commercial Hotel. Mr Innes was for many years in charge of the Rangitaiki, drainage scheme.. The death occurred in the Tauranga Hospital late on SatufeQay evening of Mr Frederick EJffrice Gemming, a well known and highly respected resident of Te Puke. Born at T'ararw, Thames, on July Ist, 1887, the late Mr Gemming was educated at the Tararu school and spent.his, early days in that district before entering the printing trade with the Te Kuiti Chronicle. He came to Te Puke some' 23 years ago and "was employed in The Te Puke Times until the death of the late Mr T. H. Wilsone, when he took over the business and conducted it until failing health necessitated his retirement in May of this year.
