WAIMANA ANGLING

Sir, —About three miles of good fishing waters on the Wairaana River, with a motoir road along its bank the whole way, has been practically closed for anglers lately. There are eight gates on this leiigth to open and close, each of which requires a visitor to stop four times on the round trip. If the 32 stops, each take twoi minutes, there is a loss of about an, hour, which is a serious drawback, especially when the rising well. yVH The local County Gwincil a^ bad example, when it pufi iHroad through land and to fence the new road, as hafes, been the practise in all previous occasions, but put in clumsy gates out the usual cattle stops; which would have enabled motorists to drive through without having to stop. The Council probably gets some fun out of feuds among farmers, but when* it comes to interfering with anglers, who pay a fishing license, it is getting beyond a joke, and is also getting near the foundation where a tragedy may develop, es- - pecially when the angler may find lqgs. as well as gates across the road, when coming home with the trout after dark. Yours etc., SPORT.
