A FANCIED CUP HORSE Included in the leading fancies for the New Zealand Cup is Mr T. H- Lowry's Lambourn, 4 years by Bulandshar —April Fool by Chici' Ruler. He is quite the right type for a Cup horse, and the owner must ever be credited with knowing what ts required of a candidate set to run out the two miles. At 7.9 Lambourn is certainly well in for a four year old, for it is much below the wcight-l'or-age. SPEEDY LINES Salutation, winner of the Dunedin Guineas, is by the Tetratema sire, Theo, ;from Queen Salute, by Chief Ruler—Salute by Soult., He Avas purchased for 250gns at the National Sales by Mr H. D. Greenwood, of Christchurcli, SHOULD BE A MILER Hitherto the four year old mare Gay Miss, trained at Takanini by J. H. Wallace, has been regarded as only a sprinter, but taking a line from her recent track Avork there is good reason to respect that before long she Avill be included Avitli the capable milters. AMBITIOUS Broivwen Avas given a run at the Auckland Spring Meeting, and finished so close up to the placed horses that her connections are expecting her to be right in the fight on Boxing Day in the settlement of the Railway Handicap, a race already Avon twice by the Cambria mare. A HEATED INTERRUPTION The smooth Avorking of the . arrangements at the Rotorua meeting Avas just a little disturbed by heated words between Ernie MontgomeiT, oAvner of Merry Vaals, Besiege and Sir Robin, and the stipendiary steward, S. Gomer. The matter in dispute Avas the late AvithdraAval of Besiege from the Tally-ho Handicap. The brisk interchange of Avords .so deA'eloped that the principals Avere called before the stewards, Avho quickly found that there were insufficient grounds for any action to be taken. LITTLE RUSE PURCHASED Having effected quite a satisfactory purchase of the General Latour representative, General Ruse, Mr S. Carey, of le Aroha, has now secured a half brother to the latter. Little Ruse. During his turf career he has paid his ay ay well, and at present is carrying plenty of the right condition. A NEW STARTER Mr C. Clarkin, of Hamilton, officiated as starter at the Stratford meeting. He succeeded in making even despatches. j
