CROQUET COMMENCES

PROGRESSIVE COMPETITION PLAYED TANEATUA PAYS VISIT With the lawns surounded by spring flowers and foliage providing an attractive setting, the Whakatane Croquet Club greens were officially opened by the president, Mrs Shaw, who welcomed visitors from Taneatua and expressed the wish that the season would be a successful one, before' playing the first ball. The afternoon was occupied with Progressive Croquet the winners of the competition being Mrs Merry (Taneatua) and Mirs King (Whakatane) who revealed good form for so early in the season. At the conclusion of the afternoon Mrs Hill, of Taneatua, thanked the Whakatanc members for their hospitality, and-extended an invitation to all to be present at the opening of the Taneatua Club which takes place to-morrow.
