SOLDIERS' BURIALS
PLOTS FOR RETURNED MEN
NO PROVISION MADE
At Monday's meeting of the Borough Council His Worship the Mayor stated that recently a local funeral director had approached the Council regarding the waiving of fees for the burial of returned soldiers, suggesting that in other centres a special section was reserved and no charges made.
Mr Barry added that enquiries had been made to the Municipal Association which replied that some local bodies made such provision but no rule was in force. He added that the Council had waived fees on one occasion where circumstances demanded and he suggested that each case be judged on its merits and provision made in necessitous cases only.
