DANGER IN BLACKOUT

OWNERS TO BE PROSECUTED

Stating that the allowing of stock to stray on roads Avas increasing and was even a greater menace in the blackout, Cr S. S. Shapley asked that the offence be more severely dealt with in future, when speaking fit the Borough Council meeting on Monday night.

He added that when the Works Committee had been making a tour of the town recently nmny head of stock had been seen grazing on the roadside. The Mayor suggested that the Inspector be instructed to prosecute offenders after giving one warning. "Impounding the stock appears to <lo no good," he said. "The position is getting worse instead of better."

"The only way to stop if is by prosecuting," remarked Cr J. Creeke.
