Child of Genius.
There is in Invercargill a child of such extraordinary mental powers that he is regarded by some educational authorities as a genius. He is eight years old, attends the Middle School, where he is in Standard IfT, and is a son of Mr and Mrs G. F. Griffiths. Mr Griffiths is headmaster of the school. The principal of the Southland Technical College (Mr C. A. Stewart) told the college board that the boy had taken an intelligence quotient test at the college. J n thi> t<• -1 the average child's score would he between Oh and 110, and a child scoring ,i-> 0 would be regarded as being in the genius class. This particular boy, however, had scored 18(1. Such was his ability, said Mr Stewart, that it was considered that lie wn? equal to the work of Standard VI.
