"A TROUBLE MAKER"
MAORI FIGHTS IN THEATRE
FINES IMPOSED
The Grand Theatre was the scene of a lively brawl when a Maori, Kennedy Lawscn, and a European, Gordon R. Bullock, came to blows and attracted the attention of the whole audience, before Constable G. TJrquhart arrived to settle the argument by placing both men under arrest. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mir E. L. Walton, S.M., both were charged with lighting in a public place.
Gordon R. Bullock, was represented by Mr B. S. Barry, who pleaded guilty, but claimed that Bullock had been attacked by Lawson and had fought only in self defence. MiBarry stated that Bullock was a decent type of man who had not been in trouble before.
"Lawson's record reveals that he is a trouble' maker," commented the Magistrate when having fined Bullock £1 with costs 12s, he penalised Lawson £5 with costs at £1 3s.
