DISTINCTION

Second-Lieut. W. H. Ryan, who spent several years of his boyhood in Whakatane and who gained distinction during the evacuation of Crete as leader of King George of Greece's bodyguard, has been further honoured with the Order of King George, Military Division. Second-Lieut. Ryan is 27 years old and will be remembered by many ex-pupils of the Whakatane High School.
