RACING NOTES
MERRY AND BRIGHT
For the past few weeks Brazen Bold has been wintering at his owner's T'e Arolia property, and is now n picture of easy time condition. In due course he will be returned to Takanini, and in a few weeks be ready to again exhibit the speed he registered in the Auckland Easter Handicap, when ho was beaten by Kindergarten. On the day the latter had the good luck to find in the finishing stages that the field had opened right out, thus ensuring him a run. He duly won. At Randwick the leading horses maintained their blockage, and the champion did not win.
AN INNOVATION The Wellington Racing. Club has decided that the time limit on fiorses leaving the bird-cage shall be-reduced and at the club's October meeting the candidates will assemble ten minutes before starting time, and five minufes later go to the post. The change will doubtless be Avelcomed by owners, trainers and riders, but backers who ever wish to see, the preliminaries wiJ! need to make their investments without doing so. HIS NEXT START Kindergarten's next start in Australia will be in the Chelmsford Stakes, nine furlongs, at Rand-wick on Saturday next. CHANGE OF LOCATION The Foxbridge four year old Ever England, trained last season by P. Burgess, of Trentham .and later by Alex Cook, at Tc Awamutu, has now joined H. Gray's Takanini team. He won at, his first start at Trentham and Awapuni, and was then duly acclaimed a front ranker. SALE OF STRATFORD Stratford, by Iliad—Ann Shakespeare, raced last season by Mrs W. D. Graham, and trained by R. S. Bsjgby, was purchased last week by R. Barlow, the well known ownertrainer of New Plymouth. So far he has not raced worthy of his class pedigree, but Barlow ever persevering may reap the reward of patience. THE AVONDALE MEETING The Avondale spring fixture which was to have been held) at will now be staged at the home course, subsequent upon the Auckland Racing Club buildings being required for an auxiliary hospital.
BACK TO WORK The Buzzer, an Auckland Cup winner, who is generally seen out at Christmas and New Year meetings has just been re-commissioned by Snow Morris at Awapjani. IMPROVING The Cambridge trained Prince Louis, who showed a lot of speed in he c,arly stages of his Pakuranga engagement, has shown distinct improvement in his track work since then. He is fancied for the Champion Plate at Avondale, in which he will carry 241bs less than at Pakuranga. MAY SOON BE READY Trainer J. W. Cathro, Matamaia, is putting Flying Acrfci through a strong preparation in view of spring racing, and this candidate should be seen at bis best vexy shortly.
