Directed from Athens, 20,000 guerillas are now operating in the Greek mountains against the Germans and Italians. The German Command issued a warning that civilians operating as guerillas would be shot. Next day 53 German officers: were killed.
A report from Tokio says the British Elmbassy' has advised Britons whose presence is not essential to leave the Japanese Empire and Manchukuo. According to a further report, the Embassy's advice stated :
"In view of the freezing regulation a number of British subjects have declared their intention of leaving Japan at the first opportunity."
The New York Herald-Tribune publishes a sensational story of the operations of clique of Vichy agents working under the direct control of Henri Have, the French Ambassador, whose activities, .it alleges, nre designed to create sentiment for the Nazi new order.
A wave of rebellion against P&tain's regime is sweeping France, according to the Daily Telegraph's correspondent, Eustace Wareing. The seriousness of the position is indicated by Petain's 300-mile journel to Auch for a conference with Darlan.
