• CHARGE BROUGHT AS WARNING

UNUSUAL CASE,

An unusual case was heard by Mir W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court at Rotorua last week, when proceedings were taken against Charles Honeycomb on tne grounds that he had disturbed stock on private property.

Mr R. B. G. Chad wick, representing the Rotoiti Timber Coy., stated that defendant had without ■authority, trespassed on private pro--perty with dog and gun and had disturbed stock. The farm manager had noticed a car with a rifle in it and, following tracks made by men -and dogs through the pastures where stock, was grazing, had met defendant returning. There wera ■dogs with defendant and he had had a gun in his possession.

"A penalty is not asked for," excounsel. "The case is merebrought as; a warning." Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay the costs which • amounted to £1 lHs.
