BEER BOTTLE "MUKTAR" A whole Arab village in Syria is payiiug homage, to "Bertie the G? 1 - larman," who appears on the label or an Australian beer bottle. Writing from the Middle East, a Digger says: "A party of Arabu came around to collect beer bottles after a party we had., "The son of the Muktar, or head man of the Arab village, who was among them, asked who was tit? man with the whiskers on tin: bottle label. "I said: 'He's the Muktar, head man of Australia." "The M.uktar's son bowed gravely, and took the. label horns to his father. '"The Muktar has hung the label in a frame, next to a sacred, portrait of his own father. "The beer bottle label is revercnced by all the Arab villagers. - '
