PIG MEATS
METHODS OF MARKETING RANGTTAIKI FARMERS DISCUSSION That the directors of the Rangitaiki Dairy Company investigate the full co-operative marketing and handling of pig meats and that the results of such enquiry be circularised among suppliers was the text of a motion moved at last Thursday's meeting of suppliers by Mr C. R. Wilson, and. carried. Mr Wilson in enlarging on his idea said it was necessary, to get as much information on the co-op-erative idea as possible, as the Minister of Marketing would be much strengthened in his position if he were to have the dairy farmers strongly behind him. Recently in the House it had been said that a profit of one million pounds: had been made by the proprietary concerns in the killing of pigs. If this sum could be allocated by the cooperative system it would mean a big increase in the price to the primary producer. Mr Withy t was in strong support instancing the position of the bobby calf trade and the profits which were being made before the cooperative basis was attained. Shareholder's Bonus The following notice of motion by Mr G. Si "Whiteside was carried on a show of hands following a brief discussion: That it be a recommenciation to the Directors that they in conjunction with a committee of say two of the Company's bona fide suppliers investigate ways and means of distributing interesr oi\. share capital as a shareholders bonus of say %d per lb butterfat and that whatever distribution method is arrived at it be asi fair and equitable as possible to all shareholders and be capable of returning a reasonably high nett return to individual shareholders.
