I Mrs S. W. Birstall, of Rotorua, is visiting Edgecumbe. . Captain H. Whitbread, A.D.C. General to Sir Guy Williams, is slowly showing improvement at the local hospital. Mrs R. Marsh of Ohope, has lefl for Te Awamutu and New Plymouth on an extended health recruiting holiday. j, Inspector McLean, of the Police Department, Gisborne, will be a visitor to Whakatane to-day and will address a meeting of the Emergency Precautions Scheme officials. Mr L. H. Brown, supervisor of the Native Department, who has been transferred to Hastings leaves at the end. of this month for that centre. At present Mr Brown is visiting Hastings. Two visitors will be present to address a meeting of the Zone Patriotic Committee at Whakatane on Saturday morning, tliesfe being Mr Usmar, Auckland Provincial Secretary, and Mr Hayden, the secretary to the National Patriotic Council. * Friends of Sapper Vincent Hayward, who has been undergoing treatment in the Auckland Hospital for injuries to his leg, will be pleased to learn that he is now an outpatient and is making good progress towards recovery. He anticipates being home in about six weeks.
