BAND PARADE

BOYS APPEAL FOR FUNDS RESPONSIVE PUBLIC On Friday afternoon the Boys' Band jfaraded the town in an effort to solicit assistance from the general public and their display proved very popular land funds were readily forthcoming. Selections were rendered at different points of the Strand while canvassers contacted the public. Generousi Donation A champion of the Band, Mr A. J. Canning, knowing the Borough Council members and the Harbour Board were to. meet at the County Council Chambers, arranged for the boys to be playing at the doors "hen the members arrived, while the collectors had a good' harvest. The president of the band then waited on the Harbour Board and found his audience a sympathetic one. The Board members expressed their admiration and appreciation of the Band and made a donation of £5 to the funds.
