CONSIDERATION OF BILL OBJECTION OF COUNTY COUNCIL At this week's meeting of the Whakatane County Council a letter dated August 11 was received from the New Zealand Counties' Association stating that the Soil Erosion and Rivers Control Bill had been introduced before Parliament and the Minister of Public Works was kindly supplying 50 copies of the Bill for distribution amongst counties vitally concerned in the river control problem. Councils were requested to study the Bill carefully and forward comments as soon as possible. It was decided that the council reslate its considered opinion that river erosion should be a national financial responsibility.
