GARDENING CIRCLE MEETS
COMPETITION RESULTS
Members of ihe Waimana-Nuku-hou Women's Institute gardening circle, held their August meeting at the home of Mrs Eagle. Although the weather was not the best, all present seemed tc enjoy the outing. Mrs John Addison presided and Mrs Mannion read the' minutes of the previous meeting. It was. decided to hold the September day at the church to clean up the grounds and cut the hedge.
The day's competitions were as follows: Best Flower, Mrs Eagle (daffodil) 1, Mrs Hughes (double white jonquil) 2, Miss Hughes (Iceland poppy) 3. Best Vegetable, Mrs Hughes (leek) 1, Miss Hughes (radish) 2. Bowl of Primroses, Mrs Eagle 1. Shoulder Spray, Mrs Hughes 1, Mrs Wool field 2, Miss Hughes 3.
Readings on gardening were given by Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Addison. A. jumbled names competition (of Rowers and vegetables) was won by Miss Hughes 1, and Mrs Hughes and Mrs Woolfield tied for second.
Afternoon tea was served by Miss Hughes, and Mrs Mannion.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Elagle for the pleasant afternoon spent.
