INSTITUTE BIRTHDAY
WAIMANA CELEBRATES
There was a large attendance of members and visitors at the Wai-tnaaa-Nukuhou Women's Institute birthday held in the hall Jast Wednesday afternoon. The meeting .opened with the Institute song and Ode to Friendship, after which Mrs Hewitt welcomed all present and iioped they would have an enjoyable afternoon. The stage and tables tvrre decorated with bowls of iceland poppies, jonquils and flowering shrubs. The roll call was, articles for sol liers' parcels, and the response win Excellent. Mrs F. Savage gave a talk on the entertainment part of the Adult Education School held at T'auranga, and Mrs John Addison "spoke on tlie educational portion, toth speakers being most interesting, and Miss* Wardlaw spoke on black-out experiences while in Tauranga. Musical arms and a musical story arranged by Mrs K. Bell, were much enjoyed, the latter being won by Miss Walton. Miss Walton also gave i splendid exhibition of tap dano(ng.
A much enjoyed one-act play en tilled "Just Engaged," was well presented by Mrs K. Bell and Mrs J. Ward I aw. A recitation by Mrs b. Savage received a great applause, and community singing followed.
Mrs Wykle read a letter from a nurse who was evacuated from Greece the letter disclosing some of the dreadful experiences they had while leaving that country.
Members of the various Institutes thanked the Waiffiana members for the pleasant afternoon spent by all, the singing of the National Anthem 'closed the meeting.
