PRISONER OF WAR
MAJOR C. A. LE LEIVRE. Word has come to hand that Major C. A. Le Leivre of Whia>katane is now listed as a prisoner of war. Friends will receive this welcome news wi!th relief following the long period) of uncertainty since he was posted as missing in Greece. In a letter to Mrs Le Leivre, Col. John Allen-,; M.P., stated 1 that from information learnt from one of the last New Zealanders to leave the' Greek coast, Major Le Leivre was seen on shore with ap-proxii mately one hundred 1 other mem Of all ranks. They were short of food, and lacked boats to take them off. There was every likelihood of the entire party captured. Mrs Le Leivre has asked us to publish this information in order to lend' hope to the relations of other men who havebeen reported 'missing,' and in this we are glad to comply. Coil. Allen has now taken over the command of the 21st (Ak) Battalion.
