GARDENING CIRCLE
WAIMANA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE! Tha monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute gardening circle was held lasit Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs Bert Hughes, Waimana. There was a good attendance of members, Mrs Wylde presiding in the absence of Mrs John Addison. It was decided to grow vegetable seeds and the plants to be lor funds. The growing of Chokos was well discussed. Shrub's have been planted in the local cemetery grounds recently. Tha day's competitions were: Bowl of winter decorations., Mrs Wool field 1, Mrs Stevenson 2i, Mrs Mitchell 8. Best flower, Mrs Woolfield (Camelia) I, Mrs Hughes (Daphne) 2, Miss' M. Hughes (Pansy) 3. Best vegetable, Mrs W\lkle (Onion) *1, Mrs Hughe? (Leek) 2, Miss Hughes: (Pumpkin) 3. The members walked round ttio garden, which was in splendid order, and the vegetable garden was well advanced with spring vegetables. A jumbled names of flowers com* netition arranged by Mrs Hughes, wns won by Mrs King and Mtrs Woolfield was. second. The hostesses were Mrs Wylde and Mrs WooMield; many " r hanks' to Mrs Hughes for the T>lea t > nnt afternoon closed the meeting.
