JEWISH PLAYWRIGHT'S BLUFF How Dt Goebbcls was hoaxed by two Jewish playwrights has just become known in Berlin —but not to the public. Two years ago the German Pro--paganda Director gave his official blessing to a comedy called "Water For Canitogo." It was a great success on the stage and as a film* and was hailed as "a Avorlc from the pen of a true Nazi artist. Actually it had been Avritten as a rush joJ) by the brothers E'gon and Otto Reis, Austrian Jews. Goebbcls demanded that the author come to Berlin to receiA'c the plaudits of the croAvd. They found in Vienna a young Austrian Avilling to appear and be applauded. Well rehearsed, he Avent to Berlin and made his bow. When Hitler entered "Vienna the brothers' Reis fled abroad. It is only now that the last of their relatives lias escaped from Austria that they have dared to let out the story ' of the hoax.
