Twelve Months Ago. It is twelve months ago since the Petain (French) Government broke • off diplomatic relations with Britain. A Further Tribute to F.J.R. "Only tough pioneers could have stood up to such reverses," writes a correspondent to the BEACON, when discussing the early struggles of Mr F. J. Reynolds, in bringing in ,the Thornton property in the early days. "The years 1915 onwards were years of repeated floods, when all the swamp was submerged with the exception of the river banks. Time and time again the best effortsi of the land-builders were nullified, and it was neccssary to start ail over again. Those who stuck to the work of reclamation were eventually rewarded by success, and Mr Reynolds was in the van of those valiant .souls who would never be beaten.
