WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
EDGECUMBE ANNIVERSARY The Edgecumbe Women's Institute held its 11th birthday party m the hall on Tuesday. Mrs Learning presided over a good attendance and welcomed visitors from Otakiri W.I. The meeting opened with the National Anthem and a prayer. Wall competitions were won by Mrs Clark and M)~s Irving. A 1 pianoforte solo by Mrs Goodwin was muen appreciated. A humorous monologue was given bj r Miss J. Pepperell and caused much laughter. A play was presented by Mrs Hodson, Mrs Cole and Mrs Rees entitled "The District Nurse," which was very amusing. Afternoon tea was served by the committee and a beautiful birthday cake, made and iced by Mrs Burgess, was cut and distributed. Auld Lang Syne concluded a very pleasant afternoon.
