WAIMANA FUNCTION

FAREWELL DANCE NURSE AND PILOT ENTERTAINED The Waimana Hall was the scene of another farewell dance recently, wlie/n Teddy Hewitt, a member oi the R.N.Z.A.F. and Miss Joan McConnell were guestsi of honour. Dick Boynton's orchestra supplied the dance music and Mr M. Burke and Mr A. Wardlaw played extras. Ths M.G. was Mr H. Wardlaw and the novejty dances were much enjoyed . An Operatic Dance by little Lois Wardlaw and a Scarecrow Dance by Nola Rust were much fen joyed by all present, the performers receiving a great applause. After a dainty supper had been served, Mr J. L. Burnett called on Toddy to receive a wallet and cheque from all present, wishing him the best of luck as a pilot, and a safe return to his home town. The guest most suitably replied and thankeid all for the gift and the enjoyable evening. Mr T. Wardlaw then presented Miss Mc-' Gonnell with a cheque from her many friends present and absent. The speaker wished Miss; McCbnnell every success in her nursing career. Miss McConnell thanked all for the gift and said how she would miss all her friends and especially heir home, but hoped to return stometime to s/ee all. Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem closed the evening.
