INCREASED RAINFALL
SLIGHTLY MORE THAN LAST YEAR FIGURES FOR SIX MONTHS The rainfall for thei first six months of this year show an increase over that period of 1.940 in the Edgecumbe district according to the observations of Mr Andrew McLean, of Edgecumbei. During last month rain fell on fifteen days to amount to 5.76 inches making the total for the half-year 28.3H inches. Last year June was drier only 2.04 inches falling and the total'for [lie six months being 27.5 inches. Frosts have been fewer this year fifteen being racorded au against 18. Whakatane Figures. At Whakatane June was also productive of more rain than in 1941 which was muQh drier. Rain fell on 15 days to total 5.71 inches as against 1.57 inches in 1941. The total for the year to date is 24 inche ',£0 figures for the first six month of 1941 being 19.05 inches. The most rain recorded in June was 1925 when 10.8 inches were re -orded, while the lightest fall W" -> 1933, 1 15 being gauged.
