SCHEME OF SUSSEX VILLAGES RESIDENTS BECOME FOOD TRUSTEES Come Avhat may, there will always be something to eat for everybody in the rural parish of South Hart-. Lng Sussex. The A T illagers themselves are see? ing to that.. Each one has become a food trustee to make sure that if supplies break doAvn or the village store is put out of action the village will have food. This is lioav the scheane, which ia organised by the W.V.S., works: Each trustee has paid 10s into a fund, and Avith the money 3% CAVt. of food has been bought. The food has been split up into 10s lots, Avliich the trustees have taken home. They AA'ill hold the food ready fo the time AA'hen the village needs H. If that time comes it will be given back for use by the village as a whole at the rest centre canteen. But, if the meantime, ?«ny of the food is in danger of losing its quality, the trustees can use it. They must, however, what they have used. "Everyone avlio had any storage rpace has co-operated," a W.V.S. official said. "Trustees are also holding for us stock of blankets, candles and matches. The scheme may be extended to other areas. South Harting means to build up a really useful reserA'e in trustee stocks. "We have ordere-d another 3%cavl of food," the W.V.S. representative added.
