BRIGHTEN UP THOSE BRASSES
Those of you who have been away from home will have) been dismayed to find how horribly discoloured the brass articles and fittings have become during your absence. Don't gel too discouraged over this problem, however, for it is not nearly as bad as it seems. Have a pail of warm water and 'add a liberal amount of ammonia to this solution and leave for about half an hour. Take it out; wash in hot soapy lather, to which you have added a little lemon juice (if possible!) Now rinsie in clear hot water : and j r ou will be delighted to find that the brass is restored to its former glory. Brass door knockeirs suffer badly, it is true, owing to the weather, but if yours is in a bad slate, have it unscrewed so that it can be soaked in plenty of ammonia for a day if necessary, as t lie re is no better cleaners for brass than this, and having the knocker off the door makes it far easier to deal with. It can be thoroughly cleaned and then put into place again.
