ESTIMATES FOR YEAR GRANTS APPLIED FOR A letter was received by the County Council at yesterday's meeting from the district engineer of Publia Works stating that the funds available for this financial year haft again been reduced and although the Main Highways Board did not want maintenance to deteriorate, itr Avas of the utmost importance thatt very strict economy be . exercised.v This year transfers of funds from* one highway authority to another would not be permitted. The county engineer reported that the estimates in respect of the Mail* Highways had been completed and! forwarded to the District Engineer. Items were: — Thornton-Edgecumhe £400. „ Matata-Rotoma > Wainui £1200 Station "Road £400 l Station Road raising £20001
