CLEARING SALE PRICES 5 Thq New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Gov, Ltd, reports a most successful clearing sale heid at Otakiri on Wednesday on behalf of Mr I. G. Steenson who is paying the district. The herd was in. splendid order and calving dates and tests were available. The average of the whole heard of 68 cows was £12 Is. Best early calvers mad© from £J. 4 to £16; August calvers from. £11 to £18 10s; later cows from £9 to £10 10s; five Jersey: heifers made £10 10s; a very nice line of calves well grown and out of cows averaging 3701bs butterfat. brought £6, . ' There was a good offering of sows, some registered, and these brought ft;om £6 10s to £7 10s. One Berkshire sow "with a litter of seven made £10:. small slips 235; good store pigs 345. There was a splendid range* of; implements in first class order which also attracted spirited competition. PRICES AT OPOTIKI Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual monthly stock sale at Opotiki, when an average yarding of both sheep arid cattle came forward .• Owing to the inclement weather there was not a large- attendance. All classes of sheep sold under steady competition at rates comparable with other districts. Cattle: The majority of the * yarding comprised fat and boner classes, for which competition was keen for all butcher sorts and good boner cattle sold at fully scheduled rates, a total clearance of both sheep ard cattle being effected under the* hammer.
