A. Touch of Winter. On Saturday Whakatana experienced a touch of winter, residents awakening to find a white frost. This, according to old Whakataneans was the heaviest experienced for about four years or more. Footballers Injured. The contest between Taneatua and Ruatoki senior fifteens played at Taneatua on Saturday was marked by the large number of men "laid cut." Most wore the result of lack o! training and were not serious, but, however, two men did sustain injuries which meant their leaving the field —one for the season. L, MeCready had a collarbone/ broken while Sisam received a nasty cut on the cheek bone which necessitated two stifcches. The club's honorarv surgeon, Dr. Maaka, had a busy day.
