SITTING MEMBERS RETURNED ■CHAIRMAN'S COMFORTABLE MARGIN Sitting councillors for the four glidings contested of the nine Ridings in the Whakatane County were returned at the polls on Saturdaj r > ifmd although the campaigning had been fairly keen the polling was not particularly good. The chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, retained his seat fby 42 votes to 24 recorded for Mr F. J. Savage. Mr H. C. McCready had a victory over his opponent Mir J. Lawn by 101 to 64, while Mr I>. W. Spence 127, Mr C. T. Smith 94, held their positions in the triangular contest in which the new nominee, .Mr J. Mullins polled 73. The nar- . rowest margin was that of Mr J. G.
