WHO'S WHO IN HOME GUARD
Sir,—From time to time the BEACON has published lists of men in the Overseas Forces, including a list of all the men who volunteered (hundreds of them). Would it be against regulations to publish tha~ complete Whakatane County list of volunteers in the H#me Guard? Af least it would make interesting reading. People could then see who's . who'in the Home Guard. In one settlement on the Plains it is com* mented on that several residents of the township who work for the Lands Department on five days of the week are notable absentees from the local Home Guard com-» pany,, much to the disgust of bona fide farmers who milk cows seven mornings a week and then put in all Saturday at the Home Guard. However this is a free country, and! there is as.yet no conscription ?n . the Home Guard. What do you think . about it, Mr Editor. What is pub* , licity saucei for the Overseas Forces Ganders should be sauce (Beacon. Brand) for the Home Guard Gooses'; (as those who have not joined up, : call them).
