(In answer to our correspondent's query, we have to state that the letters referred to mean Published by Arrangement, and are recognised throughout the journalistic world,, as a method of freeing tha newspaper concerned from any official connection with the views expressed therein. On thr main these articles are paid for at the same rates as ordinary advertisements but the procedure can be varied according to conditions, nature of material and other factors. The' method is a favourite one during the course of elections and the letters may be noted after many articles in the dailies during national campaigns. The article referred to was submitted to us in this manner and * therefore bore the recognised label. -Ed.)
Sir, —I was interested in a statement appearing in j r our issue on the 7th inst that Mr Savage had been nominated as a candidate for the Nukuhou Riding. The siatement goes om to say that a requisition had been signed by 75 per cant of the votes likely to be, recorded at the poll. (A statement that should be taken with a pinch of salt by ths ratepayers). Then follows- an outline of the policy to be carried out by Mr Savage if elected. Now Sir what I and many other ratepayers are puzzled over is the initials appearing after Mr Black's name P.B.A. I am quite ignorant (Continued foot previous column^-
