SHORTAGE IN- AUCKI.AND Supplies of blankets in Aucklanrl shops and stores are regarded i» the trade as entirely inadequate for winter requirements, the reason for the, acute scarcity being t'hat tb** woollen mills are chiefly concerned in producing for the ne»edsi of the services. Many shops are without stocks. ! One large supplier of blankets recently produced ordieir books to sthow | that orders by many city firms lodg--; ed as far back as January, 1939', lsact either been partly supplied or en~ tardy unfulfilled. There . wass no* prospect of any appreciable relief before the winter.
