MORE AND STILL MORE MEN
FROM the quota of 998 men required from the Paeroa area in the last ballot, Whakatane residents number 103. The fact that this figure still relates to single men (within the interpretation of the Military Service Act) indicates the amazing supply of manpower available from this district. With over 600 men already serving, there still remains the possibility of say 50 or 60 more who will be physically fit to stand up to military training. The final ballot for single men is yet to come, and the thought uppermost,, in the average mind is-—what will be the total number subscribed frpm this area before hostilities cease ?
